What concepts does the NEC Challenge Teach?

The CEE National Economic Challenge participants develop and expand their critical thinking skills which not only helps them in every course of study they might pursue, but makes them more effective thinkers and workers for any career option.

Student teams compete on their knowledge, skills, and ability to work collaboratively to progress through multiple rounds which measure comprehension and application of concepts related to a rapidly changing global economy.

  • The program scores based on knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics, international economics, and current global events.
  • Advancing recognizes each participant’s ability to collaborate as a team member in order to pass several competitive rounds and develops their abilities to articulately present analyses and recommendations.
  • The Challenge reinforces state education standards in economics and participation adds to students’ attractiveness as college applicants, potential student interns, and ultimately as job candidates.
