By combining economics with world history lessons, students discover how people and nations developed as a result of making decisions based on maximizing local resources. Students learn how people satisfied their needs and wants through history and what forces caused some nations to prosper while other declined. Topics covered include:

  • How the black death raised living standards in Europe
  • Why the industrial revolution started in England
  • The relationship between transportation and world trade
  • Why the nomadic life shifted to settled agricultural societies
  • Why some economies prospered while others failed
  • The rebirth of Japan after WWII
  • What choices helped or hindered economic growth
  • The fall of communism
