Due to renovations at the Marriott Biscayne Bay Hotel the CEE will not hold the conference at that location. The conference will now be held at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel. 2010 Conference

The 2010 Annual Conference of the Council for Economic Education/National Association of Economic Educators/Global Association of Teachers of Economics will be held on October 6-9 at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, Miami, Florida. The conference will be hosted by the Council for Economic Education and sponsored by State Farm®.

Conference highlights:

  • Overview of the Council for Economic Education current program initiatives.
  • The latest in program, curriculum development, teaching resources, research and evaluation and technology for teaching economics, personal finance and entrepreneurship education.
  • Leadership and management sessions for affiliated council and center directors and staff.
  • Professional development workshops and sessions for K-12 teachers.
  • Networking opportunities for K-12 teachers and university-level economic educators.
  • Hands-on technology sessions in a dedicated computer lab.

K-12 Teacher Professional Development -- Continuing Education Credits

  • Twelve 2-hour intensive workshops for elementary, middle and high school teachers using the newest teaching resources and programs from the Council for Economic Education. The Council will provide attendees with certificates of completion for their participation in the conference and attendance at workshops.

  • Check out the latest in economic and financial education materials from the Council for Economic Education and other leading providers in the field.

Facilities

All conference sessions and exhibits will be held at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach Hotel, 4441 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, Florida; 305.538.2000; www.fontainebleau.com.

Registration Information

Registration will be available by June 30 at www.councilforeconed.org/conference (preferred), by mail or by fax. Your registration fee entitles you to attend any of the plenary or concurrent sessions. It also includes the Thursday night reception and awards dinner. Teacher workshops are at an additional cost of $10/per workshop.

Hotel Reservations

Special conference hotel rates have been arranged at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. The conference rate is $155/night (single or double occupancy). You may reserve your hotel room directly by calling 1.800.548.8886 and refer to the group name (CEE/NAEE/GATE annual conference or group code NCEE1010) or make reservations online at https://resweb.passkey.com/go/NCEE1010.

Room reservations must be received by Friday, September 15 to qualify for the conference rate. A three day post and pre conference rate is available based on availability.

The Fontainebleau check-in time is 4:00 pm and check-out time 11:00 am. The Hotel requires a first-night's room and tax deposit on a major credit card to guarantee guest rooms. These deposit paid by individuals are refundable if cancellation occurs within 72 hours prior to arrival. All deposits shall be charged at the time the reservation is made.

Resort Fee - Optional

A resort fee of $12.95 per room per day inclusive of tax will apply to all guest rooms in addition to the room rates. This fee includes unlimited toll-free and local calls (prefixes 305, 954 and 786), high speed internet accessed through the in-room iMac computer, beach chairs, and use of the Fitness Center for registered guests in the room. The resort fee will be posted to individual room accounts.

Payment

Payment for the full amount must be received before the start of the conference or by October 6 or accompany your registration form. An email confirmation will be sent to participants.

Cancellations

Cancellations of registration received by Wednesday, September 15, qualify for a full refund minus a $40.00 processing fee. No refunds will be made after that date.

Conditions

Preregistration deadline for the conference is Wednesday, September 15. A late registration fee of $25.00 will be charged for registrations postmarked after September 15.
